Diy florals with Emily hall

Nothing says “spring” like fresh flowers! Emily Hall, owner of Wünderbar Florals, makes it easy. Step by step, stem by stem, you can make this arrangement and bring the vibrancy and freshness of spring into your home.

To begin, Emily prepares a vase and prunes her stems by clipping extra leaves and small branches. With all her stems prepped and separated by type, she’s ready to assemble.

For this arrangement, Emily is using lemonium as her “filler” stem. Then, by using the spiral technique, she begins building around the lemonium starting with the flowers with the biggest blooms: the stock adds whimsy, delphinium for a touch of blue, and daisies for classic springtime charm.

Next add in the smaller, more delicate stems: daffodils for a sunny pop of yellow and pink carnations. Emily is then ready to cut the stems and vase. By lining up the bouquet beside the prepared vase, she’s able to estimate how much to trim. Emily gives the reminder to always trim a little less than you think - you can always trim more, but you can’t add it back!

By turning the vase to see every angle, Emily fills in the gaps with fox tail ferns, plumosa, and bare grass. Lastly, she adds a stem of Chinese wisteria, a stunning purple bloom that completes the centerpiece with undeniable drama.

Place your finished centerpiece out of direct sunlight and change the water often. Happy Spring!
